Welcome to our nursery!

A grey office building on the outside, colourful, loving and full of life on the inside!

That's us, our nursery has been around since 2002 and we have accompanied many children sensitively and supportively on their way. Perhaps your child will soon too?

Your child and their needs are at the centre of our attention! But who are we? We are educators who practise our profession with love, heart and passion and act professionally and expertly. Working in partnership with you as parents is very important to us. Our team consists of long-standing and new committed employees. We are very proud that each member of staff, with all their strengths and abilities, enriches our team and makes it so special.

Rooms

Sunshine Day Nursery - like a second home

Our nursery offers four rooms suitable for small children, which invite them to play and provide opportunities for development.

The four groups with adjoining bedrooms are on one level and are connected by a large play corridor.

Our nursery rooms

• 4 groups for 11 / 12 toddlers from 0.6 to 3 years with various play areas.
• Sleeping room in each group for relaxation and rest.
• Washing and nappy-changing facilities with storage space for toiletries and a personal change of clothes.
• Kitchenette with dishwasher in each group for preparing food etc.

Room for exercise

• Gym 

Our gym offers the children approx. 70 square metres of space for exercise, play and fun. The gym is equipped with a climbing wall, a large soft floor mat, a ball pool and a slide suitable for small children. Furthermore, the children can train their balance on a trampoline, with stacking stones or river stones, a movement course can be created from jumping boxes and a ladder or they can race across the gym on many bobby cars and much more.

• Large hallway for playing and running around.
• The children can run around, ride bobby cars or play ball in the small garden.

What else is available

• Three children's bathrooms with toilets and nappy-changing facilities.
• Team and parents' kitchen, where parents can wait comfortably with a cup of coffee or tea during the settling-in period and also get to know other parents. Team meetings also take place here.
• WC for staff and parents.
• Staff room and administrator's office, where staff spend their breaks and where our administrator has set up her office.
• Management office
• Large entrance area that welcomes everyone.
• Storage room for nursery trolleys, gym equipment, children's vehicles and much more.

Our equipment in the group rooms

• Each group room has various play areas equipped with different, age-appropriate materials.
• Three out of four group rooms have a raised play area.
• Light-coloured, durable and toddler-friendly wooden furniture offers the children space to store, play and be creative.
• A kitchenette with dishwasher supports the children's independence, among other things.
• Our toys are age-appropriate, durable and versatile. 
• Books are a natural part of our rooms. They stimulate the imagination and promote language and brain development.
• Many other opportunities for personal development.

Outdoor Facilities

Our outdoor area

Our outdoor area is a manageable open space. Even though it is not large, the garden is very popular with the children.

What's on offer in our garden?

• Sun protection in spring and summer.
• Sandpit with lots of cars and sand toys.
• Wooden hut for resting and hiding.
• Small settees for cosy picnics.
• Vehicles for racing.
• Chalk to draw on the floor.
• Small raised children's beds for planting.

Each group also has nursery vehicles, which they can use for excursions and walks in the neighbourhood. The playground is less than 10 minutes away and invites children to play in a safe environment, and the nearby forest is also popular.

Daily Schedule

A regular daily routine is very important for children's development. Routines and rituals convey a feeling of safety and security, they give confidence and serve as orientation in everyday life. 

We do not have fixed care and nappy-changing times; we change the children throughout the day according to their needs or take them to the potty or toilet as required.

• Flexible breakfast: The children are free to decide when, how often and how much they want to have breakfast. They have time for this from 7.30 to 9.30 am.

Food

Breakfast and snack

• Parents bring a balanced breakfast and afternoon snack (bread, yoghurt, porridge etc.) for the children
•  A plate of raw vegetables supplements the morning and afternoon meals.

Lunch

• Our lunch is freshly prepared daily by our own AWO catering and delivered to us
• Partly organic food / seasonal fresh food
• Food without additives (flavour enhancers, colourings, preservatives...)
• Mild, toddler-friendly dishes - sparing use of sugar and spices
• Food groups: proteins, carbohydrates, dairy products, fruit and vegetables
• Mainly regional vegetables and seasonal fruit
• Intolerances, allergies, attitudes and beliefs are taken into account.

Basics

The child at the centre of our educational work

At the centre of our educational work is the child with all its needs, characteristics, abilities, skills, interests, experiences, strengths and weaknesses.

Each child is a sensitive personality with an individual life situation. We support them in developing self-confidence, building self-assurance and thus growing into an independent and responsible personality.

Every child has their own pace of development. Learning takes place according to its own inner blueprint in sensitive phases, i.e. when the child is open to it. We support the child during its development process by observing it and then creating a prepared environment and responding to its individual needs in a situation-orientated way. We offer specifically planned learning experiences and give the children time to develop independently and in dialogue with other children. This takes place during free play and free work, because children are curious, thirsty for knowledge and enthusiastic.

In our everyday life, we always ensure that we treat each individual child with love, appreciation and respect and also encourage this interaction between the children. The children should feel safe and secure so that they can develop at their own pace.

Our work also incorporates aspects of the educational principles of Maria Montessori and Emmi Pikler.

As a non-denominational provider, we teach the generally recognised values of tolerance, solidarity, freedom, equality and justice in accordance with our AWO mission statement.

All children, regardless of their development, religion or country of origin, aged between six months and three years are welcome here!

How to find us:

Our day nursery is located in the Tennelohe industrial estate and is easily accessible by public transport.

Our centre is about 2 minutes from the "Am Weichselgarten" bus stop and about 5 minutes from the "Am Wolfsmantel" or "Wetterkreuz" bus stops.
