Introduction/specifics

Our ‘Pfauennest’ daycare centre is located on the grounds of Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. It offers space for 48 children aged six months to 3 years in four groups. There are 50 places available for children aged 2.5 years until they start school.

Employees of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and employees of the University Hospital Erlangen are the main carers here. Further free places can be allocated to other organisations (e.g. students, Max Planck Institute, Fraunhofer IISB or external organisations), provided they are not covered by quotas.

Rooms

Spread over two buildings, there are two floors each with a total of four groups for children aged 0 - 3 years and two 2 groups for children aged 3 - 6 years.  Each group has its own group room. The rooms for children aged 0 - 3 also have a separate room for meals and activities, as well as a bedroom. The groups of children aged 3 - 6 each have an additional adjoining room which is used as a ‘learning workshop’ and ‘studio’.  There is at least one sanitary area with nappy-changing facilities and toilets on each floor. There are also corridor areas with cloakrooms, a large exercise room, recreation rooms and offices.

The special highlight of the centre is our exercise room.

Outdoor Facilities

There is a large fenced garden behind the two houses, which offers plenty of space to run around and play. In the area for children aged 0-3 years, there is a sandpit with a mud pit, a nest swing, a hill with a slide and a large terrace with an awning to provide plenty of shade for the children. 

The area for children aged 3-6 also has a sandpit, two swings, a climbing area and wooden logs for balancing. 

There are also tables and benches at child height to sit on. There are also 2 raised beds in the crèche area, which are planted and harvested by the children every year.

Food

We get our lunch fresh every day from the "Küchenzwerge" in Baiersdorf. The menu is specially designed for the children and is varied. The main course alternates between a starter (salad, soup or raw vegetables) or dessert (fruit, yoghurt). Individual days can also be booked. 

Overview

Priority is given to junior staff from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and junior staff from the University Hospital Erlangen.
